Size and Projection
How big do you want to go?
At Runnels Center, our medical expertise and an eye for artistry can determine the right shape for you. A consultation with Dr. Runnels or Dr. North is the best way to pinpoint what size and projection needed to achieve your goals.
Since implants size is measured in cubic centimeters (cc), not by cup size, it may be hard to visualize about how big you would like to become. The reason for measuring in cc versus cup sizes are due to cups sizing is not standardized and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Using cc ensures a proper sizing and eliminates the potential for confusion or dissatifaction.
Projection refers to the side profile or the distance that the implant will project from your body. The amount of volume (cc) and the degree of projection depends on your body type, and the shape and fullness you want.
To better give you an idea, about 150-200 cc is equal to a bra cup size. For example: for patients who want to go from an A cup to a B cup, they will need at least 200 cc of implants. Knowing this in advance can alleaviate confusion and assist you in your visialization.
A method to try if you need to see and feel for yourself, is to craft a pair of Rice Sizers. Fill a pair of knee highs with rice measured to your desired bra size. Try off in a knot, trim the excess off, and mold into a round shape with your hands. Then, insert the sizers into your bra and take a look in the mirror to see if this increase looks right to you. To measure the volume of rice you may need and convert it to cc, use this chart below:
1 cup = 236 cc
½ cup = 118 cc
¾ cup = 177 cc
⅔ cup = 78 cc
⅓ cup = 78 cc
¼ cup = 59 cc
⅛ cup = 30 cc
If you need a visual aid, the video above shows a "how-to" on making your own rice sizers.
